Christopher Barrera is a sophomore at the University of North Texas and an outstanding member of ELEVAR. Initially, Christopher wasn’t sure if he wanted to go to college or if college was even for him. After a conversation with a UNT ELEVAR friend, he decided to apply to UNT, and we are thrilled that Christopher is part of UNT, ELEVAR, and the Mean Green Family.
Christopher embodies dedication and hard work in every facet of his life, from academics to community engagement and inclusion of others. He worked as an intern with UNT Athletics and enjoyed a culinary course during his freshman year.
He is known for his exemplary qualities of respect, responsibility, and helpfulness. Christopher leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets. Beyond his academic pursuits, Christopher finds joy in a variety of hobbies including singing, acting, drawing, watching movies, playing video games, and is an active member of his church community. His eclectic interests reflect his preference for diversity and thirst for life.
Christopher also places a significant emphasis on his health and fitness regimen, regularly hitting the gym, staying active, and preparing nutritious meals. His dedication to maintaining a healthy lifestyle serves as an inspiration to his peers in the ELEVAR program and beyond.
Recently, Christopher achieved a milestone by becoming the first student from ELEVAR to audition for and be selected to join the premier UNT Choral and Camerata Choir. His determination to succeed in every endeavor makes him a role model within the university community. Christopher’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, passion, and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of life.
